Reeling under fund crunch, defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has, for the first time in decades, borrowed about Rs 1,000 crore to pay salaries to its employees. The company is worried that projects could come to a standstill by April with no money left to make fresh purchases or pay vendors.
